Voices for National Service Hill Day

nationalserviceimageRegistration for the annual Voices for National Service Capitol Hill Day sponsored by CSX Corporation is now open. Trachtenberg School students are invited join this event in Washington, D.C. this September to tell Congress how national service is making a difference in your community. Click here to register. Capitol Hill Day registration is open until Friday, August 14th.
Research and public opinion polls demonstrate that the American people support the expansion of national service, but there are still a few key members of Congress who have not gotten the message. This year, both the House and Senate have considered legislation that would cut the federal budget for the Corporation for National and Community Service by up to 34 percent. This would mean a significant reduction in national service positions across the country. We need to tell Congress why we stand for service.
Join us in Washington, DC on September 15 or 17th, and make sure your voice is heard. Congressional visits can demonstrate to decision-makers the impact and cost-effectiveness of national service to address unmet community needs. By educating elected officials about the work you are doing in your community, you can make tangible the important role national service plays in strengthening communities and uniting the nation.
Voices for National Service will schedule all meetings, as well as provide training and briefing materials in advance of Capitol Hill Day. No experience is necessary to participate–just a belief in the power and potential of national service.
