Become A Book Reviewer or Interviewer for Policy Perspectives!

Policy-Perspectives-Image-2015Policy Perspectives, the Trachtenberg School’s student-run journal, is now accepting interview and book review proposals for Volume 23! Policy Perspectives welcomes all current and former Trachtenberg School master’s, PhD or certificate students to submit proposals.

Interview Proposal Guidelines

  • In approximately 500 to 750 words, your interview proposal should identify the person you wish to interview, explain why the person is significant, and lay out a realistic plan to conduct the interview.
  • We do not have specific content requirements, but we suggest reviewing the interviews that Policy Perspectives has published in past volumes (for example, with alumni Andrew DiRosa and Admiral Thad Allen) to get a sense of what might be appropriate.

Book Review Proposal Guidelines

  • In approximately 500 to 750 words, your book review proposal should identify a work in the fields of public policy or public administration and explain why the book is significant.
  • You may also choose to review multiple related books together.
  • You do not need to have finished reading the book(s) at the time you submit your proposal, nor do you need to submit a draft of the review itself. After reviewers are selected, you will have until Friday, January 22, 2016 to read the book(s) and write the review.
  • We do not have specific content requirements, but we suggest reviewing past book reviews on our web site to get a sense of what might be appropriate.
  • We will not publish reviews of books that have already been reviewed by Policy Perspectives.

Please submit only one interview or book review proposal for consideration. If you are already a Policy Perspectives author or Associate Editor, you may not submit a proposal.

Please follow the instructions below to submit your proposal anonymously:

  1. Upload your book review proposal here or interview proposal here, along with a brief writing sample with your name and any other identifying information removed from the file.
  1. Send an email with your name and book title OR name of your proposed interviewee to polpersp@gwu.edu with the subject line “Volume 23 Book Review Proposal” or “Volume 23 Interview Proposal.”

Proposals are due by 11:59 PM on Sunday, December 6. Everyone who submits an interview or book review proposal will hear back by Wednesday, December 23.

If you have any questions, please email us at polpersp@gwu.edu. We look forward to your submissions!
