Nominations Open and Save the Date: Alumni Awards

Alumni of the George Washington University’s Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration live out the school’s goal of “doing good and doing it well.”

The nominations for 2017 are open until Thursday, January 19, 2017.

Every February, the school hosts an Alumni Awards reception in order to recognize a few of the school’s outstanding alumni. Alumni honored in the past include Sec. Henry Cisneros, PhD ’76, Adm. Thad Allen, MPA ’86, State Rep. Michael Stinziano, MPA ’04, and many others.

Current students, alumni and friends of the school are invited to nominateworthy Trachtenberg School alumni to be honored at this year’s reception with one of two alumni awards:

  • Outstanding Recent Alumni Award – This award honors graduates (within the past 10 years) who are at the early stages of their career have already distinguished themselves and demonstrate promise of even greater achievements.
  • Distinguished Alumni Award – This award honors graduates (more than 10 years post graduation) who have made a lasting impact on society though outstanding professional, voluntary or philanthropic accomplishments.

The purpose of both awards is to recognize outstanding alumni for their individual achievements in the areas of public policy and public administration, and their leadership in serving the public interest and enhancing the quality of democratic governance.

Selection Criteria
Candidates must have an MPA, MPP or PhD degree (or their predecessor degrees) from the George Washington University.

Accomplishments in the following areas will be considered:

  • Professional Attainment and Achievement – Candidates should have attained prominence in their career or profession. Work should have a demonstrated and wide-ranging impact.
  • Public Service/Outstanding Service to Field or Profession – Candidates should have demonstrated outstanding scholarship, teaching, and service in the fields of public policy and/or public administration or active and reflective engagement in local, national, and global governance.

The nomination deadline is Thursday, January 19, 2017, so nominate someone today.

Save the Date: The awards will be presented at our annual Alumni and Teaching Awards Reception on Friday, February 24, 2017.
